Before Black BS'ing thread.

LMAO!

I have one of those,

its an old school Shelby Spearco unit.

anyone wanna buy it?

lol

A.j.

its cool to see that thing up close. where did you get it at?
i see you have some beers laying around too. lol

Cool turbo unit. What turbo does it use? Looks pretty big. I take it that it didnt work too good considering I have never seen one of them before. That looks like an awful long way for a wet charge to flow, especially if its 20 degrees out and the engine is cold.

Whats the exhaust inlet look like? Normal T3 flange or something wierd?

It will bolt on to most 4 barrel intakes if I remember right. Haven't seen one of those in a long time and it was in a book. Neat find Aj.

What up doe? My carb hat is rubbing on this hood and its making everything rattle inside too:mad: Check out my new ghettofied heater:biggrin:

Its just a heater core with computer fans on it... it will probably work better than it ever did in the blower box:rolleyes:

C'MON man whats up with the innuendo...:p:biggrin:

made a trip to the local parts yard. found an early 80s, late 70s El Camino with the 2bbl 3.8; however, the engine is half gone (heads gone, front pieces gone) and the intake manifold do not have anything on it lol....
checked the clearance between hood and bottom of 2bbl 3.0 Intake manifold on an LK9 equipped Buick Century, a virtual twin to the 82 ciera coupe with same engine locally; it is 9 inches from the flange to the top of the air cleaner.... Charlie what's the height of a C/T manifold with turbo and carb on it? I;m guessing over 10 inches?

lmao... I was completely sober when I made it, I was just really fking a broad and I don`t really like freezing half to death in the winter:biggrin:

fixed ;)

does anyone know the relative height of said C/T set up from intake manifold flange to the top of the "hat" on a 4bbl carb? this is a Draw Through design....I'm trying to figure out if its more beneficial to do a Blow-Thru set up, a 79 Riv set up (proven to clear stuff in a Buick Century FWD car on an LK9 engine), or if i can stuff a stock appearign C/T set up in there and not need a "blister" or scoop of sorts...
or if i should fk it and build a high compression NA 3.8 lol. (would be nice to turbo the ciera just so i can sweep the floor of the ricers locally lol)

Its about 10 inches from the intake to the top of the hat on my D/T.

hmmm. 1 inch difference....is there any way to get the "carb" hat any lower, or would that really mess up the air flow? it sounds like i might need to have a slight "blister" where the carb hat would be.....and because I HATE offset blisters, I might have to figure out a way to make a centered blister of sorts...though because its a FWD engine bay; the blister might have to be LONG (taper into the rear of the hood) just for aesethics...:( the blow through or the early 79 riv intake might be the best method for keeping stock appearance without going EFI...

I dubble checked for you and it looks closer to 10.5 and add in the gasket for the plenum to intake and it closer to 11 inches:(

You can always shave down the plenum here and maybe hammer down or cut the bottom of the hat a little or make a turbo hood:biggrin:

DAMN. i measured from the lowest poitn of the intake manifold, the flange that meets the block....assuming a rough 3 inches of space between the foot and the valley floor; that would be 13-14 inches >.< ayy. I want to make sure before i buy something that would require cuttign holes in hood lol.

hmm. I wonder has anyone else on here attempted an intercooled/charge cooled Blow Through turbo system for a regal type? I've been seeing such set ups on v8s and race cars in Hot rod magazines lately; so I;m wondering how much more the system would benefit from such a charge cooling system for a blow-through system using say; a set of Stage 2 Heads and Stage 2 4bbl Holley Intake Manifold, with a decent Holley carb.....? that is, if it is possible to fit such things on a stock type block (unless that requires the block to be overbuilt lol)
