Ok over the years I had many muscle cars, I use to stop light race a lot as an 18 year old.

What was the 1 car / encounter that took you out or stayed with you?

Mine was race against a big boat 455 Buick wildcat.. I thought I was going to dust him in my 68 GTO, boy was I wrong! we ended up tied.

I got my butt kicked by an Audi A4 when I was in my TT Stealth. I missed 3rd but he had me anyway. :( At the next light he told me he was running mid 12's so he should have won, but I was not used to any car taking the Stealth from a dig.

Killed by a late 50s RHD bug!

When I lived in San Diego, I used to attend quite a number of street racing events. The GN was pretty mild at the time, but all the same it instilled fear into lesser cars.....

......so, me and my attitude wound up on the line against a VW bug. I should have known something was was wrong, but I was totally confident that I'd leave this little air cooled POS eating intercooled V-6 exhaust......

Boy, did his tail-lights get small quick:eek:

After the race, he admitted to me that he was running a 2 liter that dyno'ed somewhere north of 200hp.

At least he was good enough to announce this to the crowd, and helped me save my dignity.

BEWARE THE BUG!

the worst ever for me........got pounded by a accourd:eek: riding in my silverado......hurt for awhile....

I raced a Formula TA with my 88 Dodge Dayton 2.2 liter turbo (non-intercooled). I kept up with him till about 60 and then he flew ahead of me. Actually I was more surprised I kept up with him.

Last year I got my a$$ handed to me in my Navigator by a Hyundai

-I was in a civic Si coupe w/ all the mods and a 50 shot, and had a rusted multi colored beat up El Camino walk me.....
-Also, A dodge dakota 4x4 w/ the v8 and a 150 shot walked the same civic as above...later found out the plane jane 4x4 went high 13s consistently.
-Then... (I learn slow) I had a VW Jetta 1.8T w/ a chip, and at the F body shootout, split 2 races w/ a stock looking harley truck...we both ran 14.1xxs.

Rambler

Back in 1966. My buddy had a '66 fairlane GT. 390, 4 speed. Car ran F per stock. He had a 4dr '62 Ambassador in the class. Rambler whipped him.It had an AMC 327 and a 3 on the tree.

Locally, about 2 years ago (when I was having fueling problems), I see this Mustang cross in front of me and hear the blower whine.
I promptly made a right-on-red and went after him. After I initially passed him, you'd swear I had a magnet in my trunk because he was stuck to me. After like 3 miles of this, I gave up. We shouted back and forth about what a great competition this was and how he had heavily modd'ed the Mustang.

A pair of tata's

A loong time ago I had a 75 TA 400 speed, narrowed 12 bolt, the works.
Went out to the local spot to race and a guy with a stock 74/75
vett pulled up next to me to race. His girlfriend jumped out to flag us off.
She whipped her shirt and bra off stood right in the middle of the road (They were huge)
holding her shirt over her head. When her arms came down I didn't move an inch. Looooooser...........

Kinda like a dear in headlights?;)

A friend of mine in his 69 camaro actually pulled up
right after that and we both sat there will she tried to get us to go.
It took her a few minutes to figure out what was going on..
We was laughing our asses off.

Years ago I had 66 Plymouth Satellite with a 383 that was pretty quick, low 12 sec. street car. anyway there was this local were I was stationed and always saw him out cruising with this 66 mustang with a really goddie 80s paint scheme. I never saw him actual race anyone in town and he never came out to the "spot" outside of town were we all raced. I don't remember what day of the week it was but I spotted him driving up ahead of me minding his own business, well me being a big shot, finally got beside him and gave him the pipes.....my car was a 4 speed and I had it in 2nd, when he nailed it that thing looked like it was shot out of a cannon! I banged 3rd (glove box flew open so I know she was getting it) never gained much on him. Later found out the guy worked at a local machine shop and was told that car has 351 Cleveland with a fogger!

I got beat in my Limited when it was a 13 second car by a Omni GLH. It was a freeway pull from 60 to 100. Lost by a car length.

In 87 I had a modded 85 Mustang GT. In the day it was one of the fastest in my area. I ran a GN from a stop light. The guy knew how to hold the brake and build boost. It was fender to fender the whole run. His car was stock! Not long after that I had my GN. It was a real easy conversion!

Similar case. I'll never forget it because it's why I'm where I am now. While being a Senior in college in 1993, I was in a radical Mustang Club. We had some really fast Mustangs in our club and my car was one of the fastest. Back then I was running like 12.4s and 12.5s all day long consistently at the track (pretty fast for basically bolt-on performance back then).

We also used to go from town to town setting up street races and I was usually at the forefront running the competition. You guys know what I mean. We'd make a bet for a couple hundred dollars, talk a lot of sheet, spot people a few car lengths, give people the break, etc... etc... etc...

Well, we got called for a race in Canton rolling about 15 Mustangs deep. Get there and set up a street race. My car was chosen from my club and they picked a guess what - Yes, "1987 Buick Grand National". We had absolutely no idea and thought it was just a plain jane Buick Regal. Well after negotitating and negotiating, he told us he'll give me 2 1/2 car lengths and the break for $500.00 and we said you must be smoking crack. Yes, the race was for $500.00 which then was a lot of money for a club to do something. We said hell yes and one of his guys and our guys drove 1/4 mile and marked it. I kid you not, I had 2 1/2 car lengths and the break and left hard and all I remember hearing til this day was loud Turbo Spool while I was raising my RPMs. First thing out of my mouth was Oh Sheeeeeeet. Even after having 2 1/2 car lengths and the break, this SOB flew by me like I was standing still and after he passed me (about half way) he threw on his blinkers to let his guys know he just went around me. Let me tell you that was a very embarassing day for my club!

Well long story short, I'm on my 8th Grand National and will never go back! Definitely convinced me to respect the Buick Grand National  .

The Hot Rod Power Tour came into town a few years ago so a buddy and I took the GN out for a little cruise. We tried to race everybody we could and nobody would bite. One guy in a, what looked to be highly modded, 69 Camaro, even said "I know what those will do." Anyway, I stopped next to this HillBilly looking 89 or so blue Iroc that sounded like it had an exhaust leak and had a pretty bad rust problem. I started to spool it and he noticed. Next thing i know, I felt like i was next to a dragster with open headers at the track. The dang thing hit the rev limiter and popped and cackled for about 10 seconds. Needless to say, he spanked me by a freakin mile. I pulled up next to him at the next light and asked what he was running. He said he had a 100 shot on a dart headed 454 running on alcohol and he just pulled it off the trailor at the hotel. He said it ran in the 9's. My car was practically stock with the exception of the Houston Downpipe! I guess it wasnt an exhaust leak!!!

When her arms came down I didn't move an inch. Looooooser...........

This isn't a kill, it's a STUN. And frankly I'da done the same thing, maybe ask her to hop in for a ride (and a drive) after the boyfriend left the line :D

A Crown Vic at the 1/2 mile drag races. I thought he had a roots blown 351W when he asked me to race. When he jumped out 4 cars and I couldn't catch him in a 1/2 mile, I new I wasn't dealing with a blown small block.

Turned out he had blown up the small black and replaced it with a build 521 cube BBF. I had no idea.

Also turned out the Crown Vic was as fast in the standing mile as 3 '06-up ZO6s on the same day.
