If it wasn't for the fact he was fighting on CBS, and was PROMOTED by them like he was GOD, he was OUT at the end of the second. Thompson had him on his back for over a minute, without him answering anything Thompson would throw at him! The only saving grace was that Thompson was SPENT and unable to follow through! I lost a lot of respecct for Kimbo, he can't go the distance, a 5 rounder would exhaust him! Needs a year of work on Cardio!

I didnt get to see the fight but a buddy told me he lost the first 2 rounds, and i read the same thing on sherdog. I would like to see him fight a Tim Sylvia or Check Kongo (sp?) not so he could get the **** kicked out of him (which he would) but so people would realize he is no were near as good as they try to make him look.....which just like you said is like God and in MMA there is only 1 and thats Fedor

Why is Kimbo even on television?

What a worthless excuse for a fighter. Even this loser Thompson (who looked drugged) was pounding kimbo within inches of his life.
MMA is now the new WWE with this performance.
Could the fight have been any more fixed? The Ref could have stopped the match when thompson had kimbo on his back and he was eating elbow after elbow after elbow with NO answer. Instead he called the fight while Thompson was still fighting back and on his feet.
They are grooming Kimbo because they know they can get urban blacks on board with MMA if they have a fighter they can relate to. Promoters see the money here so they throw no names at this guy to boost his record. 1 fight with a real MMA fighter and Kimbo will need a casket.

There are about 1000 fighters with more talent that should have been given the chance to fight a main event on national television before this loser.

He clearly is a joke. Famous for his YouTube street fight videos that made him seem like a monster and that's all. Like we've all said already, he just needs to face one real fighter for everyone to see the truth.

Agree with Pablo, James fought in Pride and he was ok there (you could tell he was on roids thou) but yeah if Kimbo fought any legitiment fighter it would be lights out. I would love to see him against Aleks (Fedors brother) he is a badass too but would make Kimbo look like a school boy in a cage and out. It will be a matter of time before Kimbo gets fully exposed, they will run out of cans to give him and once they put him against someone decent its all over

Elite-XC is in for a rude awakening by trying to build their company on Kimbo slice........he almost lost last night to this poor excuse for a fighter Thompson. I can't wait until they run out of "No-Talent" fighters and he starts fighting real fighters. You had a title fight that wasn't even the main event with Robbie Lawler and Kimbo was the main event??????? I like Elite-XC but come on, Kimbo is your main draw now with only 3 fights under his belt????? And poorly fought and questionable fights at that! Bo Cantrell was a joke and tapped in 19 seconds when he didn't even get hit........come on!

Why is that people want Kimbo to fight against the best in his VERY FIRST BOUT? Does anybody do that? Kimbo is what he is. My hat is off to him for trying to do what he is good at in a professional setting rather than in homeboy's backyard. Maybe I'm wrong but I BELIEVE that if Kimbo had thrown a killer shot early in the first round for the KO that he still wouldn't get any respect. People would be saying how dumb the OTHER guy was.

It's a good thing that Kimbo finally had his hands full, should push him (with the help of Bas Ruten) to hopefully be a better fighter. It wasn't even a fair fight to begin with, Kimbo had to fight Thomson and his alien ear...lol
If it makes everyone feel better, just focus on Gina Carano instead. :smile:

I thought it was a good "Cut your teeth in" fight finally. And as always, he has a punchers chance against anyone. His ground game is definitely in need of some basics. They stopped the fight, but I agreed with their decision, Fetus Ear Boy was done, his neurons were temporarily disconnected by Kimbo, lol.


That dude's ear was nasty and distracting, one of the worst case of cauliflower ear I have ever seen, I was so glad when Kimbo popped it for him, nasty.

Good bad or ugly he just made 6 digit figures. Kimbo is not the one pumping himself up. Elite is so desperate that they are trying to build a front around Kimbo. They both ran out of steam, but being totally honest. I was entertained watching it. Kimbo said himself, he has got lots to learn, he is new to all of this. he needs some serious trainers to help him out. And as he said, I gotta quit smoking too:biggrin: Like him or not, that guy had 20 pounds over Kimbo and used his weight to his advantage. That federation is perfect for him right now. In the UFC, he would be done, no questions asked.

Come one, are you serious with this comment? He was the main event! When you think main event, you think the best of the best...........if EliteXC is going to make money off of this guy by promoting him as a main event then by god they need to put up some good competition. Bo Cantrell????? Out of shape and aging Tank Abbot????? And now this guy last night (Thompson) who has been KO'd in his last 5 of 7 fights........come one, not main event material! This event actually made me appreciate Dana White.
The last UFC was one of the better ones I have ever seen.
It is almost not fair to have this right after.

There were three stopages I had issues with that clearing
gave wins to fighters the EXC needed to win.
The crowd was pretty terrible' though, I have no idea
why they were booing during the Lawler fight.
Who ever was the director and was choosing the cameras
during the fight needs to be fired.

This was so bad I had to watch a couple Pride fights when this
was over to see how it was done. Nog vs Barnett was a real heavyweight fight unlike the travesty we were forced to watch. Even the Fedor vs Hunt fight was much better.

Gary Shaw, the next show needs to be better...

PS: Kimbo only has a punches chance against any top 10 HW.
He is extremely once dimensional and not even that great in that dimension.

This fight was rigged...I called bull**** through out the whole 2nd round. Thompson had Kimbo on his back in a crucifix...and was patting him with his fist and tapping him with elbows. Kimbo didnt answer or try to defend himself for over 40 seconds...with no stoppage. Absolute bull****

And I agree 100 percent with JAy..Kimbo is a can...the next great black hype.

I think it should have been stopped as well. The amount of damage was questionable but letting it go that long with not defending himself was fishy and then stopping it when Thompson was clearly still in the fight, even if wobbly just screamed work.

Regardless of what anyone thinks about Kimbo he is a guy working up through the ranks. Maybe he's doing it different than most, but I'm sure with him having no sponsors he's just doing what he's got to do. If he gets his azz beat..fine. If not I'll give him props.

I love how they had 'Brawler' down as Kimbos style. Classic.

Remember this is the first 'cage' fight ever on Non cable TV. We are spoiled with all the other Pro organizations.

Carano NEVER NEVER NEVER makes weight. Even before she was on Gladiators she never made weight. When she's the face of women's MMA in North America (Bring back Erin Toughill, dammit), its far better to take a 12% purse reduction (They probably didnt make that much anyway so I bet it wasnt a big hit) and stay undefeated and the golden girl than it is to go out there and lose by fighting, oh I dont know.. IN YOUR ACTUAL WEIGHT CLASS! I will give her props for almost pulling off a gogo tho.

My problem with Kimbo is that Elite is protecting him. They're building him up as the face of their company and hand picking opponents to make him look like some kind of MMA god. Thompson was supposed to be a gimme for Kimbo.. fortunately Colossus watched a lot of DVDs on Kimbo and figured out the perfect gameplan. Thompson got robbed. The ref gave Kimbo a gift courtesy of EliteXC.

That's the problem with having Gary Shaw at the helm of anything. As fishy as boxing has become, having a boxing promoter running an MMA organization just begs for people to scream WORK and stuff like this makes it all look like a reality.
