will stock chip cause this?

I tried my car yesterday for the first time. All stock including chip.

Basic mods though. Tried to run 18psi of boost and in high gear the boost just fell off about 5 psi.

Something in the chip?

The stock chips are very aggressive about pulling boost in 3rd and 4th gears so that sounds about right. From memory I believe 3rd gear is about 75% and 4th is around 50%.

By the way, the stock chip has around 23 degrees of timing and isn't going to turn the fan on until in the 190's so trying to run 18psi w/o alky or higher octane is not a good idea, and I know you have a scantool or gauge to watch for knock, right?

Yeah, I forgot to mention all that. I have an OTC 4000 and I was running VP C12 fuel. The car has upgraded pump, reg, volt booster, and whoever owned the car before me straight wired the fan. It also has a 160 stat.

I ordered a chip from Quad Air today. We'll see when it arrives.
