NHRA Funny Car driver Jerry Toliver wins in a TOYOTA of all things. But, you know, I think it is powered by a Hemi.

Yea right

That thing is powerd by a big nasty Tecumseh  :D

Isn't it amazing that they can throw a different body on it and all of a sudden it's a Ford,Dodge,Chevy,Toyota

The engine started out as a Chrysler Hemi.
Racers started finding weak spots and started modifying.
I believe Keith Black designed the block that Top Fuel and Funney Car use today. It has bean updated and improved a few times for better durability.

As far as the engine goes they are all hybrids. That is nothing will bolt on to a original 426 street Hemi anymore. So I guess who ever pays the most in sponsorship money determines whose name goes on the body. SHHH!!! Dont tell anybody, there is a big arguement on this thread http://www.turbobuick.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=113457
on whether Toyota should be racing. Well at least its just a car shell and not a Toyota engine.

Hell you could say that about any of them. There's really nothing about the engines that can be found in a factory car. I get a kick out of John Force (and I like the guy) saying how good his Mustang is running. :D
