voltage problem

my bat. is new. My alt. is putting out 144 amps. Why is my scanner reading 11.0 to 11.5 volts at all rpms, and my bat. draining HELP????

"11.5 volts is a reading of what is present." You are not charging. that number should be 14volts+ from a fresh alt but a minimum of 13.5

Does the alternator light on the dash come on when the key is turned on, and then go out when the engine starts? Best way to measure the voltage is at the output of the alternator and at the battery, with a good voltmeter. You will always get a slightly lower reading via the scanmaster, etc...
