I'm having serious issues with my tranny. I have increased power on my 84 engine, and now it seems to slip REAL bad on the 1-2 shift, taking 3 to 4 seconds to complete the shift (and destroying my 1/4 mile times in the process). 2-3 is not quite as bad, but still not "snappy". As far as I know, this is the original tranny, completely stock, the car having over 100,000 miles and assuming the engine and tranny do, too. Is it probable that I just need new bands installed, and maybe a shift kit added (and cooler, of course)?

If I need a new tranny, it's just going to have to wait, cuz I just can't afford that right now. Let me know what you think guys. Thanks for any ideas you may have.

1) band anchor broke or bent

2) band itself bad

3) band volcano "blown" out

4) line pressure way down

5) drum warped and or burned and glazed.

6) accumulator spring broken and/or damaged

7) servo seal or servo damaged or leaking

Those just to name a few.....Thats where to start
