valve springs and timing set recommendations

I have an 80xxx mile unopened engine on an 87 GN. What valve springs and timing set do you guys recommend? Is there anything else I should change while I'm in there? Anyone have a recommended "how to" thread on either procedure?

Use the search option. Plenty of threads started already and will answer all of you're questions. Many run comp 980's with stock setups with good results. Any timing set will do from the vendors of this board.

Valve seals and valve cover gaskets are a no brainer. Plenty of stuff to spend more on too.

I use rollmaster timing sets with an Iwis chain in everything. 980 springs if installed at the correct heights are gtg on the stock cam

What do you shoot for, the specs says 92lbs at 1.70 installed height , what do you like setting them at ?

I measure every spring and install at the height the spring tester reads because I want to know for sure what I'm installing.
