Valve Spring Install Height

What height should the valve spring be installed @ on stock heads? Did a search and couldnt find it anywhere.

In all honesty, the installed height given by a spring manufacturer is a guideline...really they should be set to a certain pressure on the seat as specified. The reason for this is springs vary in pressure so all springs should be tested in a spring tester such as a Rimac or comparable unit. Then each spring should be installed to the correct height that will yield the recomended installed pressure.

isn't there an installed height and a compressed height that is a standard for these cars?

1.700 is usually a good number but like was said. Check the spring on a tester to determine what will get you the correct seat pressure. At max lift you want to stay at least .080 from coil bind so if you have to go less than 1.700 to get the proper pressure. Make sure you won't run into issues at max lift. The smaller cams in the Buick engines typically don't have a problem with coil bind.

If you want 130# on the seat I would install it at 145-150 so once it wears in, the pressure is closer to where it needs to be.
