Vacuum Brake Check Vavle

I was just wondering how to test the check valve that goes in line with the vacuum brake system...you just blow into it and in one direction it shouldn't blow out the other side right? Because if so it looks like I need to stop by autozone before I install these bad boys...it sure does let air through nicely both ways...
