That should end well.
Next, look for a hole in the block at about cyl #6.

Yep. No oil on the stick. A 2" puddle back into the pan wouldn't have helped!
Either the turbo pulled the oil out thru the tailpipe, or the oil was seriously low to begin with.
I vote low to begin with. A total turbo failure would have oil running out of it.
Furthermore, the back of the car would have been coated in oil.
I hope there's a sale on engine hoists...

Thanks for input - oil was at normal level before driving I checked and radiator was filled. Always told my sons make sure of two things oil and water levels before driving
