Type II ignition coil

I was just reading on the recently found gnttype.org and I ran across the Type II coil conversion. Who all has done this conversion? Any benefits? Easy to install? Hotter spark?

I don't race it, I drive it, but the 87T has been converted for many years and maybe 40K miles. I'd need to check my maint log.

The only problem I've had is one coil cracked on a plug wire post and was arcing. It would still run OK, but miss under load. I'm lucky the old beast still idles so quiet. I was finally able to find it when I heard the sound of the spark jumping the small gap to the screw which mounted the pack and was a ground.

I was able to just swap out the one coil and all was well again. I counted that as a plus.
