Turbo Shield

Will the turbo shield still fit over turbo if I install a 3" downpipe? I see a lot of pics without the shield with upgraded DP's. I'm concerned because I've heard that without the shield you can damage the hood pad.

If you run a Terry Houston style that has the nice smooth bend, the side of the factory heat shield will need to be cut out for clearance. Here is the link on GN T-Types site that has a pattern for cutting it out.

The one that came on my car when I got it already had this modification done to the heat shield and it has a Terry Houston 3" dp installed.

FWIW,
I drove mine around for about 11 years w/o a shield. Insulation/pad didn't seem affected. Stock turbo, 3" dp, and mostly just short bursts.
