When I had the block at the machine shop, after it was hot tanked we measured all the cylinders with a bore gauge and they only had about .002-.003 wear on all cylinders. It could have easily been honed and new rings put in with the stock pistons, crank, etc. I ended up going with an already built block though so I have extra parts now.
