Transmission, whines and slips?

My trans in the P/A whines sometimes and slips,
I changed the fluid and filter about 2 months ago after smelling burnt.
Question: I'm told the 4T60e in our cars are different than N/A cars...is this true??
If so, how so?
Also, I've rebuilt several 700r4's, how hard is a 4T60e to rebuild??
Around here, the rebuild will cost me from $1400 to $1800 avg., a new one is $2100....any alternatives, or at least a tough-built one for that price???

Any help appreciated...

I paid $2000 for my rebuild from Extreme Automatics. He pulled it and rebuilt it. The new tranny is really strong.

Where exactly are they located? I'm in Springfield, NE of Dayton.

They are located in Hamersville OH, which is about 35-45 min. east of Cincinnati.
