Trans removal question

I'm about to rebuild my trans and I was wondering if i could set it on the oil pan when as i take it out of the car. The shop (a pay to use type garage on base) I'm going to be working at has a tall jack with a square about 2'x2' on top. Just balance or strap it to this base the lower it down? Thanks.

I hope I don't have a gn roller for sale in a few months

You've got it, just don't forget to disconnect the T.V. cable and if you can, pop the dipstick tube out too. They balance really well on the pan as long as they don't get hung up on something on the way down. Good Luck
