Tranny Fluid Overfill Question

I have a turbo 400 with a deep pan.
Recently replaced the fluid and I Believe I have overfilled as the fluid is up the dipstick now. Bigger problem is the car wont go, I lost reverse and minimal forward action. Is this all because of too much fluid? Have I done permanent damage to the tranny? Took the car out twice once for 10 miles and 3rd gear was a challenge to get into. Second time was for 5 miles, and stepped on it a bit and then lost all power and hobbled home... is this normal.
Any help would be great!

got the filter for the deep pan, removed old o ring or rings, where does the fluid read on the stick, in the cross hatch? other than that somene with much more knowledge will need to chime in, HTH
