Hi

I am still trying to figure out my misfire/hesitation issue with my 5speed 1990 Toyota 4Runner while cruising between 1800-2200rpm range... more noticeable in 4th or 5th gear. No hesitation under load/shifting through the gears or just reving as 2000 rpm.

Could a bad TPS sensor or a "bad" spot in the sensor cause hestitation while cruising in the 1800-2200rpm range (45-50mph in 5th)

TIA...dave

Could be, can act funny in that "wear spot".
I'd put my money on plug wires being the culprit.
Is it the 4 or 6 cylinder engine?
Do you know how to extract codes?

Hi

I've changed plugs, wires, Mass Air Sensor, ECM... but the hesitation is still there.

It's does not happen all the time but is more apparent as the weather gets cooler. And wouldn't you know... when I set up an appointment with the Toyota service... problem does not happen!!!!
