Torque converter clearance

I know you are supposed to have a minium of 1/8 - max of 3/16 spacing between the torque converter pads and flexplate with the converter fully seated in the transmission, otherwise it should be shimmed.

I recently mounted up my converter and with it fully seated in the transmission I have a bit less than 1/8" (.125), I'm acutally about (.110). Is this going to be an issue? Should I be concerned about this amount? Converter is a ProTorque 9.5, flexplate CAT SFI.

Thanks

Man that's close. I do feel you'll be ok though. If you get some noticeable pump whine you may need to have some height taken off the converter.

As a builder, I would not be concerned. I would be more concerned if there was no clearance. Check the thrust on the crank.
