Tire fit advice?

Hi! Having a tire dilemma right now since the Michelin's are getting exciting in the thunderstorms now. I have 15x7 " Olds Rallye II wheels on my 81 Limited. (May have a shot at a set of Alloy 84 T wheels soon.) I need tires, and thus far the largest tires I've had on the car are 215/75R15's and 215/70R15's. I know the later T-types had 215/65R15's. A comparable size to the larger than stock tires (diameter) I was running in 14" is (according to the gnttype tire calculator)
either 225/60(65?)R15 or 235/60R15. My car isn't lowered any, but has full 84 T sway bars front & rear. Has anyone tried these sizes, and are their any fitment problems F/R?
BTW, considering BFG Radial TA's, Dunlop GT Qualifiers, or maybe the Dunlop SP Sport A2's. Any experiences g/b?
This car is currently just a cruiser/driver, with a carbed Turbo 2-be.
Any advice/experiences would be greatly appreciated. TIA!
Mike

I've got four, 245/60R14 tires mounted on Buick Ralleys on my '78. There's a slight rub on the sway bar on the driver's side. I think that my tires are the same diameter as yours, so 235s would probably be perfect.

I have p205/70r14 BFG radial t/a's on the front and P245/60r14's on the back and have no probs. The p235/60r15's will be 26.1 inches tall (when aired up, and on a proper width wheel). The p215/65r15 is 26.0 inches tall which this is not enough difference to even make any difference on you speedo. the p205/70r14 is 25.3 inches in heighth and that is more than enough to through your speedo off. To figure tire heighth use this formula: Tire width X aspect ratio / 12.7 + wheel diameter. i.e. P205/70r14= 205X.70/12.7+14=25.29 and change. Want tire width?? take the first number and divide it by 25.4 (same rules apply proper size wheel, aired up, lalala) i.e. P235/60r15 235/25.4 = 9.25 inches wide at the widest point.

I have Hoosier 245/60r15s all the way around on my '83T........the only drawback is that the outside shoulder of the right front tire barely rubs the top of the inner fender when the suspension compresses too much. (it isn't hurting it much, but the noise is ugly.)

Figure out your backspacing first. My 15x7 Buick Rallyes have 4.5" which is more than aluminum TR wheel's 3.75". Your Olds wheels may be the same. I run P235/60R15 BFG Radial TA's and the fronts rub slightly at full lock.

I would decide on rims before investing in tires. I bought my Buick 15x7 Rallye's for a total of $55. There's a pictuers of them in my signature on my '83.

We managed to get 275/60's on the rear of Tonya's 'T.
Backspacing is everything!
We have 255/60's on the black 'T & they rub more than the 275/60's.
