Timing Reading w/ext. chip & DS

I am very happy with my extender chip. I have just one question. When I change the timing advance setting ( I do mean the total and I know that the low and high timing are additive, etc. ) it does not change the total timing I see on my Direct Scan at WOT. For instance, the chip I have is originally burned for 21 degrees of total timing up top and 23 degrees below 3500. It shows 22.9 degrees at WOT no matter where I turn the 3rd and 4th dials. I just went ahead and did the math and made the adjustments and the car runs great and does just what you would expect with less-more timing down low (<3500) and up high (>3500) but just never indicated any adjustment on DS. Is this normal?
Thanks

Direct Scan looks at a memory location in the ecm.
The Translator doesn't effect that location, so the ecm and direct scan never see the change.

The timing changes on the 2-3 shift.

And the translator plus affects the electrical timing signal AFTER it leaves the ECM on it's way to the ignition module / coil pack.
