Timing chain verification?

Is there a way to see the timing chain without taking the front cover off? I'm trying to see if the original is on or if someone has changed it before I bought the car.

You can remove the the fuel pump block off plate and see in there pretty good. Its on the driver side of the timing chain cover......After you take off the alternator, a/c compressor and power steering pump, innercooler and accessory bracket. Bout 45 minutes work.
