Throttle Body Shaft Seals

Disassembling the 84/85 throttle body and was expecting a shaft seal, but did not have one (two). So, I took another TB apart and it also did not have them. I have a slight leak in the shaft where the retainer plate screws in. Would if be OK to have a seal installed in the Hot Air TB.

naturally aspirated and hotair throttle bodies dont have seals
the intercooled 86-87 89 has seals because its in pressure
