The only thing is - he forgot to mention
The Grand National he beat was this one
Minor detail.
Wouldn't it be fun to ride over in about 6 GN cars or so - and say - "Well, tell ya what - if you can beat any of these cars, I'll buy it for $1 over your highest bid"

A 12.4sec 1/4 will not beat 99% of cars on the road . For the $15k he put into it, he could have had a 10sec GN.
