Teflon paint coating

My friend asked me about some teflon coating the dealer is trying to sell him for his new car. Sounds pretty cool to me, and I wouldn't mind knowing how this works just in case I ever decide to repaint my GN (too bad I could buy another GN for the price of painting mine!)

I thought I'd ask the experts here...

what do you think?

Thanks!

To me, seems another marketing scam with 1000% markup.
IMO, no one has been able to improve much on conventional polishing & waxing using established products (Meguiar, 3M, etc).

Teflon

If you go to my topic "never wax again" in this forum you can read about an aftermarket "PATENED" Teflon finish available. There are a number of products on the market today that offer Teflon finishes, but there is only one patened finish available.

Teflon on paint ?

I read a quote several years ago in a major automotive magazine
(Super Chevy or Hot Rod), regarding paint care products that claim
they have "Teflon" in them. This was a quote from Dupont, stating that
Dupont Teflon will not adhere to a surface unless it is heated to
approximately 1200 degrees. They went on to say that in reality,
these products use "fluoro-polymers".
For example: Race Glaze Polish & Sealant uses a combination of a patented
resin, combined with polymers, giving it excellent durability (4-6 months on average).

Teflon

Rich,
You need to read some of the responses to the ones that have used the PPS. There have been NO NEGATIVE RESPONSES to those who have applied it. Talk is cheap and I understand you trying to push your product, but if you would try the PPS side by side against your product, you would see that there is ABSOLUTELY no comparison. Do your homework before knocking something.

Teflon

Jack954,

First thing, I was NOT knocking "PPS" or any other product.
I have been distributing Race Glaze for over 20 years,
and I can truthfuly say I have never knocked another product.
That is not the way to sell a product - by knocking someone else's.

I was simply responding to the same question you responded to,
by "GeneralB44" asking about Teflon.

I have read all the responses in this thread, and you are correct - I have
not heard anyone complain about PPS - on the contrary, they praise it.
Based on what I've read here, it is obviously a fine product.

I would be happy to test PPS - send me a small sample,
and I will send you a sample of Race Glaze, and ask that you
do the same.
