T-Top Question

Seldom take my t-tops out but when I did, I found that there seems to be a plate right behind the top of the windshield and runs back to the front of the t-top openings. I found they are rusted all to h***. I don't know what they are called and if they are replaceable. They look to be about 2" wide and run all the way across the backside of the windshield. It seems the rusting may have made the windshield pillar post weak. Can someone educate me?
