I watched the video the 2nd time and saw the cable while it was near the 80% incline. The cable looked like it went through the back and rear of the car as some sort of guide system to keep the car going straight. I think they winched it up though...

Those LI Extreme Vids are pretty good. Those guys are crazy though. My buddy has one, we sat and watched it a few weeks ago. It was definately entertaining!
