Stock 84 non BRF trans 3000 pats stall. Noticed only today that it began dropping from drive to 2nd when off the gas and car slowing down (30 mph or so) and wouldn't gear its self back up till I got on it pretty hard and gained more speed (holds 2nd way long). It was working just fine before this. I've adjusted tv cable everywhere and no help. What would cause this and is this a problem that might get worse?

If your lockup solenoid is stuck, it will drag the engine down like slowing down in a manual trans car because it becomes an actual mechanical link between the engine and trans. Check to make sure that when you are moving forward that right after it hits 2nd gear, it feels like it lugs immediately. If it does, the solenoid needs to be replaced.

Yep! It sure does. I adjusted the tv cable a little more and it is a little better but not what it should be. After your post I drove it and it actually shifts better if I manually shift it but for sure it drags just after it hits 2nd. I don't know the internals of a transmission at all. Can this be changed by dropping the pan or does the trans have to come out? Thanks for the help.

I don't know how the non-BRF trans work but could the governor spring have become unattached?

Steve, It's pretty easy to replace.
Info/Instructions, Pics & TCC Solenoid diagnosis here >> http://www.montecarloss.com/TCC_Solenoid.html
You'll need to get a Universal Solenoid, they're cheap, the Stock/OEM Solenoids w/Harness are no longer available.

Local Trans parts Supply House should also have them in stock.
