Stock cable adjustment

Is there any adjustment in the stock cable from the shifter to the trans? Shifter moved nice and easy when the cable wasn't hooked up but once connected it is a bear to try and get it into reverse.
I am going from a B&M shifter back to stock everything so I don't really have anything to go off of.

Is it just reverse or all the gears you are having problems with?

Are you using the right cable? You might be kinking it to get it hooked to the trans.

So had the key in the ignition but it wasn't "clicked" into the on position. I bumped the key a hair and heard a click.
It shifts ok now except I can't get it into first. Doesn't bother me a ton, I have a stagerite trans brake that I don't plan on using.

It is the original cable from my car, around 10k miles on it.
