Speedo Gear Question

Are the "large" TH350 speedo gears (2.078" o.d. sleeve) interchangable with the 700-R4 gears or TH400 gears at all?

I am finding some interchange of PN's on the web on 700-R4 sites, but am trying to find a solution (w/ out swapping tailhousing) for a "large" gear th350 - my 83 & 84 Monte SS listings are for the 1" sleeve trans.

Matthew- Why don't you want to change tailhousings? They can't be very expensive ( my friend who runs a tranny shop gives them to me for free!) or do you
have other than a 6" tailhousing? I think the gears for a 700-r4
will work, but I haven't tried to swap them from one tranny to the other. I don't know about the 400 gears. I know the hole in the case is a little smaller than that of a 700-r4

Eventually, the answer is found.

"large" TH350 gears are the same as 700-R4 gears.

The "late model" large sleeves in 700-R4 / TH250-C / TH350-C have a relocated oil-seal compared to an older TH350 large sleeve. An older TH350 sleeve fits the 700-R4 tailhousing but doesn't seal.

TH400 gears are different yet.
