Problem #1,

So last week, i put a bunch of stuff on the car:
60# injectors, TA49 (rebuilt turbo, but 0 miles on pte rebuild), TA Downpipe
Turbo oil feed line, Related turbo gaskets (oil drain, inlet bell, manifold)
o2 sensor, 160 TSTAT, spark plugs, RJC PP
RJC boost controller, Tbody gasket, Vacuum block gasket
tt chip, oil change, coolant change, Cleaned intercooler
i think that is all.....
All parts were new aside from the turbo.

Car also has a walbro fuel pump, hotwiring, adj FP regulator, lt1 maf,
old maf translator believe it's v1.1, razors alky, alky was set to 4
running a TT 5.6 alky chip that's for more boost than i need
(dont know what i was thinkng but had him burn it for 25psi)

Have had 0 problems with this car since i had it,
so im pretty sure it has something to do with last weeks mods.

Had been driving it around the past few days, not going on the highway,
but had gotten a few opportunities to lay into the boost, hitting around 17# give or take,
was getting no knock, nothing out of ordinary, car felt fine.
SM#s looked fine.
INT/BLM was a little rich, 118ish, but otherwise decent numbers.

I am so lucky and happy i avoided an accident through this,
on the otherhand, something is deff broken.

Here is what happened and the best i can describe before/during/after
I went on the highway today for the first time with new parts....
Not going too fast, maybe 45-50.
Some ******* in front of me is pulling into my lane without looking,
it's clear to my left, so i get on the throttle to change lanes,
boost comes up, i don't even think i was more than maybe 10#.
I hear POP, then the car stalls.
It sounded like a "pop" not a "bang" if that makes sense to you.

Pull over, car restarts no problem.
Not throwing any codes.
I was able to drive home, but it feels like if it's given ANYTHING MORE
than the minimal amount of pressure on the gas pedal that the car needs to move,
it wants to, and will stall.

Like going up a steep hill, it can only do it at turtle speed,
if you try to give it more gas, it will stumble.

Nothing under the hood looks obvious.
Any ideas?

Only other thing noteable on recent scanmaster numbers,
MAF readings jumped to 6, they used to be at a steady 4 at idle.
now theyre no lower than 6 at idle.

Check all your hose connections real good from air filter all the way up to the throttle body. Sounds like you may have blown one loose.

Your 6 at idle is a good numbe. Your previous 4 at idle was a bad number (too low).

DOH!

Good call Dave, and thank you.
Uppipe<>Tbody hose came loose.
IDK how i missed that looking the first time.

I feel like a dumbass now.
Freaking out over nothing.

With a NON extender chip, your best maf number at idle in park/neutral would be 6 +/- no more than 1. With an extender chip, the best would be 3, possibly 4. Extender exteme---2.

Dave,What is the cause for the hoses to pop? I had that prob a while ago but found that my D/S intercooler bolt was stripped and popped out causing the intercooler and motor to twist different ways under boost.Anyhow once that prob was fixed, once in a while it will still pop the hose off near the TB. Quite annoying and embarrassing at the same time...

If you're trying to keep them on with "regular" hose clamps, that is likely your issue.

As I was reading this, I was thinking, popped or blown hose.......

Sometimes they blow off, and that is easy to spot. I had one I blew a hole in, and you couldn't tell with it on the car. But sure enough I gound one of my couplers that I could stick my finger thru.....don't you love when it's something SIMPLE!!!!???

intercooler hose blew off

happens alot make sure they are tightenend and may want to upgrae to t bolt clamps

Actually running a T bar clamp, but as I'm sitting here thinking I do have mis matched hoses meaning the material(god knows what it's made from) on the up pipe is much firmer feeling than the lower(to the intercooler) wondering if they're flexing at different rates causing the problem...Is silicone the better choice or are there other types sold by the vendors here?

i forgot how many plys but theres a minimum you should be using if some one can chime in and i do believe silicon would be the best material for it conisdering you dont have a fron mount all you need is 2 pieces of it

Had that happen to me too recently. Had just swapped in the dutt neck IC and took the car for a ride. Was admiring how the 61 spooled with the new IC, and as soon as it hit 17psi, POP. Throttle body pipe came loose. Happened on my way back home from OCMD last fall as well.

I'll be replacing my hoses and clamps soon enough. Just make sure you get them tight, but not too tight.

Yeah, i was thinking the same thing V, headgasket
That's prob how i missed the blown hose in the first look.

I just changed the hoses to those thick ones last week,
still using regular hose clamps, will look into getting better clamps today.

F'n thing left a nice rip in the hood liner too

Funny you mentioned 'bout the thick sleeves, the one on mine at the T body has the thicker one.Betcha that might be the cause, you've got movement but the sleeves won't flex enuff causing blowouts.Actually I've gotten it down to a science and have tools to slap that thing back together on the side of the road faster than a jack rabbit on a hot date.Of course, new couplings are on the to do list but haven't gotten 'em yet....
