Soft 1-2 shift

OK. So i changed the filter and used DexVI. It seemed to work ok until it slipped the 1-2 shift. Now 2nd still works but the 1-2 shift is softer than stock and slips under alot of power. But after it hits 2nd i can nail it and it doesnt slip and when i manually downshift it grabs 2nd hard like before. What can cause just the upshift to go soft? 2-3 and 3-4 are still firm. Built trans, Transgo shift kit used to have very firm shifts.

Hook a Pressure gauge up to it, will help to diagnose a Seal or Band problem etc..

Ive have similar problems with my trans. I just installed a new valve body in mine. It sounds like the tcc solenoid may be your prob. let me know how it gose.

Where do you get a pressure gauge for this?

How would a TCC solenoid cause this problem?

You can get one off evilbay Irv. I've found the dianosis guages as a set for around $50.

The tcc solenoid can stick when it gets hot.When the solenoid is not working properly/it dosnt allow the trans to down shift when you come to a stop,it can even stall on occasion:

But my issue is a soft upshift from 1st to 2nd. It downshifts fine.

The Pressure port is just above manual Shift Shaft on driver side of Trans.
Pretty cheap Gauge kit here >> ATD Tools 5550 Automatic Transmission and Engine Oil Pressure Gauge Kit also check Amazon, can get free S/H many times. I've seen them there for about $36 shipped.
