The Sobig viruses, the first of which started spreading in January, are designed to load special software that can make spam anonymous on people's PCs.

The tens of thousands of computers infected by the virus can then be used by bulk e-mailers to send unsolicited messages that can't be tracked.

Actually I think its dying down. I was getting hit with 10,000 messages at the mail scanner with sobig.f last week. Yesterday I had 400 or so.

Is there a patch or fix to remove it?

My Norton Anti-Virus program caught it and deleted it...

I had It sent to my yahoo account a few days ago, luckily, I scanned it with nortons before I opened it. one problem is, It disguises itself under familier email accounts. So when In doubt delete it,If It was important they will email you back
