slow turbo spoolup

My 86 gn spools up very slowly from start. Replaced the solenoid vacuum switch and vacuum lines between it and wastegate. Adjusted TV cable for better shift, but still does not break loose tires. Turbo seems fine. Data from a friend's OTC 4000E scan tool shows good numbers except the fol- lowing: O2 cross counts varies between 35 and 73; BLM at 148; IAC is zero. Bad oxygen sensor a possibility? Any other ideas? Trans was rebuilt by previous owner. Could that be the entire problem, because of the soft shifts? Also tried ad- justing wastegate arm, but it seemed to have no effect. Any thoughts are apprec- iated, thanks.

look where the #3/#5 primaries meet at the collector with a flashlight. I would imagine you will find a big crack there. Check both headers carefully for more cracks.

Best way to fix cracks are to bolt the header to an old 231 head and TIG it closed trying not to excessively overheat the area. I run Felpro 1400 exhaust header gaskets.... no leaks here!
