Shifter wows

Park - fine
Reverse - drives fine but floor indicator shows park
Neutral - fine but shows half N half R
Drive - drives normal but floor indicator shows half N and half D but power logger shoes Park/ neutral and when car shifts to 3rd the 3rd indictor on PL shows 3rd, did not get into4th gear this test.
The rest show 1/2 the upper gear and half actual gear.

When she is in park the park paws are engaged and car won't roll.
When she is in 1st the tranny brake is locked and it won't roll.

Should I be worried that in D PL shows park/neutral?

Did this just happen suddenly or this has been going in this direction over time? Have you checked the shifter cable for lube , looseness, bracket, etc. (maybe stretched?)
Not an expert, if not a problem now, it will be. I had a similar problem just before the shift cable broke!

park/neutral switch i believe is in the steering column. floor indicator is mounted to the console. once you verify proper gear engagement at the trans where thre shifting cable attaches. you make linkage adjusment to the steering column. then make an adjustment to the floor console. twos crews in storage compartment and 2 screws at the front after you remove the shifter plate by removing the ashtray and two screws under ash tray
