just wondering if you should install a new shift kit after so many years/miles. car sat for 5yrs, shift kit has approx 8k on it. i'm getting ready to change filter and i am wondering if i should install a new shift kit at the same time? would thier be anything else to update/check while the pan is off( car is a 1989tta)?

Valve body calibration kits

A shift kit is actuallly a trademark for Gil Younger. What it should be referred to is a valve body calibration kit.
So with that in mind you install or "calibrate" one time and it is there forever so the answer to your question is ... no... only one time. Servicing and changing fluid and filter once a year or 15,000 miles is a good idea tho. :D

thanks for the reply bruce. wasn't sure if the o-rings, springs, and other stuff wore out over time and/or if it was a good idea to update them every so often.
