Serp Belt Removal

Going to swap the serp belt tonight - original is now hard as a rock and pretty stretched.

SM says the adjustment pulley is spring loaded and pulls away for removal...

I've got to remove the intake hose and other crap in the way to really get to it but it doesn't seem to move even a little with a reach down.

It just pivots up???

You're halfway there! Really easy- just take a wrench (don't remember the size right now) put it on the "nut" on the tensioner, and pivot the tensioner up and away from the belt. Up, not out- the tension will be taken off the belt, and you can remove the belt.

As other's stated but just in a little more detail, I use a ratchet with an 18mm on it set for tightening (or clockwise) and put it on the bolt holding the pulley on. Then just act like you're tightening the bolt and the pulley will swing up and to the left releasing the tension from the belt. While you have it pushed up just slide the belt off. Do the same thing when putting it back on and make sure it's properly seated on all the pulleys in the little grooves especially down on the crank pulley since you can't see it very well from the top.
