Rough idle in park, gets better in drive

I have an 86 T with Blue tops, stock chip and I believe a different cam. It idles rough when sitting in park. When I put it in gear it lines out for the most part. I have tried putting a Jay Carter 93 chip for BT in it that I had laying around and the idle got worse than with the stock chip. I don't have any scan tools yet but does this problem sound familiar to anyone? Anything I should check? I tapped on the MAF and it doesn't stumble anymore than what it already does. The car feels doggy at light throttle acceleration as well.

BTW the car does have vacuum brakes if that matters.

w/o a scan tool,

did you try checking for codes useing the ses light? It would be better if you could borrow one from someone close by, or put a vacuum gage on it, for a reading. pull plugs, ohm out the wires, and the coil pack? how about fuel pressure?
How about bringing it to bg this week!!!/??? There will be a bunch of guys here w/scan tools :biggrin:
