Is this cam treated with something? The entire cam including the lobes is a dull silver in color.

Looks like a cast iron cam to me. What are the specs? I've never seen a cam with lobes on a base circle nearly the same diameter as the cam. It's either a "donkey-d!ck" cam or has been reground several times!

Finally got around to investigate further. Its a Lunati 113 RR-218-215 .520 I .505 E
Still no idea about the coloring. Waiting to hear back from lunati. They said its normal to be ground close to base circle to achieve certain lifts.
I think i'm going to roll with it, anymore thoughts?

At first I thought nitride only turned metal Black, But have since learned it can make a dull Gray. So I guess it IS nitrided? shiney metal where the cam bearings ride and dull gray on lobes and core.

Looks like it would work well in an application looking for 700hp with a good flowing set of heads and a 1.65 ratio assming the lift numbers are with a 1.55 ratio
