Replacing Push Rods

I'm in need of a new set. I was told that measurement is necessary. My findings so far is that I will need a Push Rod Micrometer to accomplish this. I'm still trying to dig up more info on this.

Also, what is the consensus on aftermarket brand name push rods for our cars?

Sorry, if I am lacking info on my engine build. Not sure what additional info is necessary to better resolve my issue.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

its not a micrometer, just a pushrod with an adjustable screw in the middle, one turn is .050"

length of pushrod checker tool depends on your heads (iron,gn1,M+A)and what type of lifters , (roller or flat tappet). for irons and flat tappet you need tool able to adjust around 8.70" , irons and roller lifter 8.0-8.2 range

with the lifter at base of cam install the check tool (turned down so it doesnt depress the lifter disc) and install the rockers , adjust to zero lash then remove tool and add for the preload (hydraulic race lifter need very little /hydraulic std about .030 , solid are like the hydr race .002) . most std hyd lifters are set about 3/4 turn (.030) preload so if they are std lifter turn the tool out 3/4 turn and thats what you need to order

pushrods come in varied prices from stock replacement budget, to better , to expensive. as to what level of pushrod you need to evaluate your build and operating range , im running comp magnum with a roller cam and they were 113 a set , the budget are the comp high energy around 22 a set of 12 good for flat tappet cams , for most on roller cams the ones fullthrottlespeed.com sells will be plenty at half the price of the magnums.
