After replacing the positive cable, I tried charging the battery and there is a short. When I disconnect the cable, the battery will charge. Also, when I disconnected the wire at the alternator, there was still a short. So it must be something at the starter. Too tired to look at it again, but is there something I could have done wrong connecting the wire to the starter? Thanks!

I'm betting its shorted to the heat shield on the starter.
