Right, I don't know why I typed base, I meant SS, my mistake.
I quit spraying SS 10 years ago and even then it was long in the tooth. I know lots of you guys in the states still use it, more in the south where the temp is more stable (at least thats what I've been told) but in Canada, it doesn't survive with the weather. It was phased out because it's an inferior product. I know solid color show cars are mostly sprayed in SS but they are generally trailer queens or not driver. I did the whole hot rod scene and I'll never do it again. There just is no money in it compared to what I can make at my current Caddy dealership painting job. Insurance claims in my case, pay almost double. We've got the best of the best of everything and when the shop is pumping out 10-15 cars a day, it's welcomed!
