well, last easter i rebiult the rear, complete bearing and seal overhaul, as from the last time i swapped the posi in and put the 3.42's back in
the darn pinion keeps loosening up on me,i've used new pinion nuts and crush sleev evrytime
i put suggested preload on it, using dial in/lb wrench to measure drag
so last had the rear out to swap into the 81 i found she had no load on her again, so against better judgment i just tightened her up and it was fine for like a week,
now its back,
i dont think i am doing anyhting wrong in the procedure,
the only thing i may suspect is an out of shape yoke
i lost a universal ounce, and it never looked right aftre that, wondering if its enough to throw uneven forces on there and causing it to come loose????
any ideas, i'm ready to grab a SS rear from the boneyard and throw it in there
