Question about installing heads with ARP bolts

ummmmmmm so basically don't touch the headbolts now? will i be ok if i didn't re-torque 3 times? i don't want to disturb the thread seal

thanks...i shall not even touch the headbolts anymore...at 85 ft/lbs of torque i would say the seal is pretty good now...the motor won't even be started and filled with water and oil until the end of this month anyways so it has PLENTY of time to seat and cure...

Ted A.

I guess you do better than you think you do. There are many ways that work. Some work better than others. This is just the way I was taught by the " Experts" so they tell me. Never had trouble keeping heads on 1600 hp engines this way.

I never did the torqueing cycles described above. I might recheck my torque but no loosening and tightening. Sounds like looking for trouble. 80 lbs works for me. I've only used GM headgaskets so far. I think as long as block and head surfaces are straight, you'll be OK. If you're shooting for 10s, I guess you can be as anal as you want. :D
