I have researched about this problem, and have tried the Lucas stop leak but it still makes that annoying moan. Can anyone tell me how to get rid of it permanantly??
The pump is probably shot. If they ever get low on fluid, they make that sound from then on. Could be cavitated too. Might try turning the wheel back and forth while adding fluid. Worth a shot. Definitely keep your case and replace pump only. Too many variations out there to risk buying a new unit and going through the nightmare of finding out it's the wrong case. BTDT.

I had the same problem years ago and it was a faulty
fluid reservoir causing aeration in the fluid.
Does the noise increase as the engine warms up?
Does the fluid look kinda foamy and bubbly when hot?
If so, you need to install the updated reservoir part#
from the bulletin.
Right, it's either the wrong resevoir, or the feed hose to the pump is collapsing(look at the 90* bend coming off the reservoir, I replaced it with a metal tube on mine),,, or both.
