I have to port my exhaust housing on my turbo. Will this die grinder have enough guts to get the job done?

How about these bits?

It was suggested that I should consider upgrading my GN1 external wastegate to a Tial 44. Will this one work if I cut the old one from the pipe and weld this one on? Is there a bolt on option for the GN1 pipe?

I will happily buy this stuff from supporting vendors but I'm not seeing the gates on their sites. RJC's site is directing me to some word press site, I don't know what that's all about.

Here's a picture of my set up.

Turbonetics make a decent gate to happy with mine and it bolted right on to my GN1 pipe no welding.

sorry to get your hopes up I was on my phone when replied to your post, my down pipe has 2 bolt flanges not the 4 bolt like yours..........

Ok, no hopes dashed. I figured I'd have to weld one up. I looked all over the place for a 4 bolt with no luck.

Why are you switching wastegates ???

I was left with the impression I should consider replacing the wastgate on the GN1 pipe with a better quality piece. My first externally gated pipe, just keeping my options open. Feel free to give opinion.

How about that die grinder and bits? Any suggestions?

IS it not holding the boost steady ?

I haven't held WOT yet, I've massaged 20lbs of boost. Initially the hole isn't ported, I wanted to cruise around for a while and let the exhaust put a signature mark on the housing for a template on where to port the hole. If I'm not careful the boost will shoot up rather quickly. I haven't tried running the vacuum from compressor directly to the lower port on the gate yet. I still want to port the hole first.

It should be noted the car feels exponentially quicker with this set up. Before I pulled away from my friends car. Now, feathering the gas he didn't even come close.

Aren't you jumping the gun porting the hole .. if you don't know if it will hold the boost as It is ???

if you match the spring in the gate and run the compressor to the gate .. that would tell you if need to open it up ....

Fyi ..I know this sounds strange .. but just opening the gate hole isn't really what I would start to address.. you can actually really improve the
functionality of the wastegate hole just by knowing how to redirect the airflow .. the size of the gate hole is secondary to this

Ported my turbo and waste gate I see it as I would rather have to change a spring in my waste gate rather then change head gaskets

Believe me, I've had these same thoughts. With the boost controller all the way opened the boost number shot up to 30lbs I started thinking about my hole.

how do you have the controller hooked up ?? I saw in another post on the same downpipe that the guy had the lines hooked up wrong... check that

I searched this thread and hooked it up the way I saw a diagram posted. I'll double check it tonight, thanks.
