No, all keys were metal. In the early '90's GM cars had the plastic covered keys, yours might be cut from them.

They were metal keys from what i remember.

My dad purchased a 85 GMC S-15 and it came with the plastic around the finger portion of the key.

They were all metal. Only select models from GM got the plastic covered keys. Mostly any car with a Pass-Key theft deterent system like the F-body and Corvette. You can get those covers seperately from GM.
