my car has about 2k on the motor .how long should i wait before switching to synthetic oil.

Have you changed the oil+filter yet? I'd go three oil changes or 5000 miles before changing to synthetic for break in purposes.
I bought my car new, drove 500 miles did LOF, drove 1000 mi did LOF, then every 1500 for approx 80,000/17 years. Just switched to synthetic 2 yrs ago. What's the hurry? :biggrin:

change to syn. Run regular oil & change it every 2000 miles. The extra money you save on that synthetic crap will be used for other things.

run rotella 15-40 with a good zinc additive i run the stuff from fram has lots of zinc or you could run BG additive
