Lots of discussion about Zinc additives. A couple of quick facts:

  • Zinc Diphosphate is an extreme pressure additive
  • Oil companies used much higher levels of ZDP in the past
  • ZDP contaminates Catalytic Converters due to oil consumption
  • The EPA has driven Oil companies to lower the ZDP levels to extend the useful lives of catalytic converters

Now for the opinion: We see alot more flat tappet cam failures using today's motor oils with lower ZDP levels. I think that if you run a flat tappet cam, extra ZDP in your oil is cheap insurance to protect against failures.

regardless of the oil you run put a bolt in your oil. it will save u in the long run
