Whats up with all the GNX's popping up now for sale ???It's like they're all coming out of the woodwork.I follow T/R's,GN's,and GNX's for sale to see whats out there,condition/miles/price,etc and have noticed there are alot hitting ebay now.
Ranging from under 1k miles to 40k.It's funny that alot of them are'nt mentioning the faded bumper fillers that can clearly be seen in the photos.
This is a car on my bucket list, but sorry, not at these prices,I geuss I can do without.Just me,but IMO,these cars flew up way to fast in price.Unfortunately in 02 had one right in front of me with 9k orig miles, mint, for $28k here in Ct,had the money, but figured I just pick one up later, never expecting them to reach to where they are now.
Picked up a TTA w/15k orig miles, mint, for way less than its orig window sticker,so it blows me away that compared to a GNX,they basically made just about three times as many TTA's, 1,555 which still is'nt many, vs. 547 X's,and the X is 3 times its window sticker.
And again, just my opinion, the TTA has more significance as it at least served a purpose, that it actually paced a race, and acheived the mph required by Indy to pace a race right out of the box.
Yup,the fortunate 547 !!!!!

There are lots of GNXs for sale at any given time. It's a rare day when I can't dig up a half dozen on the Internet. That's probably a big part of the reason why they've only appealed to me sporadically...all it takes is money to own one...not really any challenge.

I'll kick your story up a notch. Around ten years ago, I passed on GNX 546 with 996 miles for $39k. I bought a 900 mile cloth/hardtop TTA instead, thinking the GNX would be a easy addition to the collection but the TTA was a 1 of 15 a car. Years later, I struggled to get my money out of the TTA after putting 20 miles on it over the years. And the price of GNXs....

And finally, the GNX is 100X better looking than the TTA and much more significant in American automotive history. Sorry TTA owners, but the TTA is still just a fourth gen F-body.

Don't get me wrong,I would love to own a GNX,and without hesitation give up my TTA,but at what price?I would never pay over $50k for one no matter how few of miles were on it,same being said,it's still a Buick regal.
I have owned my 87 GN now for 23 years, runs very low 12's,so at that,is way quicker than a stock X,that I would never modify if I had one.
I get it,something is worth what one is willing to pay,and somehow lots of people now paid the high prices for an X,which now has etched a market for them.
As far as the TTA still being a forth gen,at least they had some construction to do to make it into what it is.I will say,if it were not a turbo buick v6 in it,obviously I would'nt have bought one.

Hell, to be honest, every time I play Powerball I envision buying at least one of each: GNX, TTA, Low mileage GN, and a few T Types/Limited in various colors. :)

The GNX was the first one out their designed to go fast and still meet all the regulations with safety and emissions. The GNX was just an over all better built car because of the quality and time taken with each one. Different suspenion, tuning, body bushings....a bunch of little details that truely made the car into one of the first american supercars. As for the TTA, I look at that as GM had a killer motor and killed of the GN so they just wanted to make a really fast car so they dropped the motor in a firebird and made it work...Not trying to piss people off, this is just how I see it

.....A bunch of little details that anyone can do to their TR in one or two weekends in their garage. It's not like the build quality is any higher. They were all fully assembled on the regal production line and then sent off for mods at ASC. The paint sucked just as bad, the interior was still "fifty shades of gray", etc. The GNX exists so that people can own the "top dog" model at an inflated price. I will openly admit that my GN sucks compared to most but I'd still line it up against any GNX out there. Why? Because I know the GNX will be running on ten year old gas and rock hard gatorbacks...

Agreed, the orig paint on GN's and GNX's flat out suck!!!! The orig paint on my TTA is far better than my friends 24k orig mile black T-Type,that has never seen the light of day, always garaged.NTM,the TTA's don't suffer the laquer cracking as well.
It's funny that in all the ads you see for GNX's for sale, they are saying how spectacularly mint they are, just about all I've seen, including ones for sale right now, have flat dead chaulked out bumper fillers.$70k and you would have that, def a repair instantly if I got one.
And drive it around on 26 year old hard azz Gatorbacks, new tires as well.
Quite honestly,I think I'd prefer now one that has anywhere from 15,20k-30k miles,as long as it was still 100% orig, never wrecked or modified,or one with 80,90,100k miles that would need a paint and mild restore for far less money.Either way, would want to enjoy life and drive it !!!!Not keep it locked up to look at.
Funny story,I'm in Ct,and at a 4th July party back around 2002,my cousins boyfriend had a friend whos father bought one new from Parsons Buick in Plainville, and ended up giving it to his kid.He told me how it does great burnouts and donuts !!!!! OMG !!!!The kid drives it everywhere, beats on it,leaves it in the casino parking lots, etc.Said it had door dinges and such and about 70k miles on it now.SAD !!!!

I could have bought one brand new off the lot for $28,000 in 1987, but I didn't.. I should have.

Their prices are inflated because of the mark they left in the automotive world and the history they set. Buick showed with the GNX why a v8 is not all its cubic inched to be. You can still push tons of power, enough power, to run the streets and put up a mean fight at the strip.

GNX, IMHO, is in a league or cars like the buick gs from the 70's, hemi cuda, stang gt500, etc but actually rises way above all of those because of how far ahead of its time it was. Buick stopped at no expense to make it amazing and powerful. I think they should be worth more if low miles and should continue with increase in value as years pass. You can even go to the extent of saying the GNX is in a league of its own.
